If they go out, they should be fixed as soon as possible. Unlike older models, assembling the lamp on your fourth-generation Toyota pickup truck's turn signal is fairly simple. The lamp assembly is composed of a socket, a bulb, a wiring harness, and a retaining ring. The assembly process is fairly simple and only requires a Phillips screwdriver to perform. The entire procedure takes only approximately ten minutes. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Phillips screwdriverAccessing the Assembly Step by Step : 1 Turn off the engine and remove the keys from the ignition of your Toyota truck. 2 Raise the hood and remove the three headlamp retaining screws. 3 Disconnect the electrical connection at the back of the assembly by squeezing the two plastic tabs on the connection and pulling on it. Remove the headlamp assembly from the vehicle. 4 Rotate the turn signal retaining ring counterclockwise to remove it from the bulb. Rotate the entire socket counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly. Unclip the wiring harness to remove it from the socket and pull the bulb out of the socket. Assembling the Lamp Step by Step : 1 Place the new 992 bulb into the socket. Clip the wiring harness over the bulb and socket. 2 Place the socket back into the assembly and rotate it clockwise to secure. Place the retaining ring onto the bulb and rotate it clockwise. 3 Place the assembly back into the vehicle and reattach the electrical connection. Reinstall the three screws and close the hood. The three main problems with any exterior light on your 190E are loose connectors, burnt-out bulbs and broken fuses. All three issues have fairly simple solutions that only require approximately 15 minutes to perform. The 190E uses 1156 NA bulbs for its turn signals, which can be purchased at most auto parts suppliers. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Phillips screwdriver Replacement bulb Replacement fuse Step by Step : 1 Turn off the 190E's engine and open the hood. 2 Remove the retaining screw above the headlamp. Pull on the connector at the rear of the headlamp assembly. If the connector is loose or not connected, secure it to the assembly by firmly plugging it in. 3 Twist counterclockwise the bulb socket numbered "1." This is the turn signal bulb. Push the bulb into the socket to remove it and replace it with a new 1156 NA bulb. Place the socket back into the assembly and rotate it clockwise to secure it. If the turn signals are still malfunctioning, the problem may be with the turn signal fuse. Close the hood. 4 Open the fuse box cover on the driver's side of the instrument panel. Use a screwdriver to remove the fastener on the cover. Locate the fuses labeled "R HEAD LMP" and "L HEAD LMP." These are the right and left headlamp fuses. If the metal piece inside either fuse is broken, it will have to be replaced. 5 Pull the fuse out and replace it with a new 15A fuse. Replace the cover on the fuse box and close the door.
